Animal Welfare
An important part of preserving our environment is protecting our natural habitats and the animals that live there. We must ensure that we protect these species for future generations, especially those in danger of becoming extinct.

Pet Safety and Protection Act of 2009, H.R. 3907
Amends Animal Welfare Act to list permissible sources of dogs and cats used for research.
Great Ape Protection Act of 2009, H.R. 1326
Prohibits invasive research on great apes, defines such as research that may cause death, bodily injury, pain, distress, fear, or trauma including drug testing.
Truth in Fur Labeling Act, H.R. 2480
Amends the Fur Products Labeling Act to eliminate the exemption to fur labeling requirements for products containing relatively small amounts of fur, and permits states to enforce more restrictive labeling requirements. Passed House of Representatives 7/28/10
Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act of 2009, H.R. 503
Imposes a fine or prison term, of up to three years, for possessing, shipping, transporting, purchasing, selling, delivering, or receiving horse flesh or carcass with intent for human consumption.
Puppy Uniform Protection and Safety Act, H.R. 5434
To amend the Animal Welfare Act to provide further protection for puppies.
Prevention of Interstate Commerce in Animal Crush Videos Act of 2010, H.R. 5566
To amend title 18, United States Code, to prohibit interstate commerce in animal crush videos. Passed House of Representatives 7/21/10

Restore Our American Mustangs Act, H.R. 1018
Amends the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act to revise provisions concerning the management of such animals. Passed by House of Representatives 7/17/09
Captive Primate Act, H.R. 80
Amends the Lacey Act Amendments of 1981 to add nonhuman primates to the definition of "prohibited wildlife species" for purposes of the prohibition against the sale or purchase of such species in interstate or foreign commerce. Passed by House of Representatives 2/24/10
Crane Conservation Act of 2009, H.R. 388
Requires the Secretary of the Interior to provide financial assistance for approved projects relating to the conservation of cranes. Passed by House of Representatives 4/21/09
Great Cats and Rare Canids Act of 2009, H.R. 411
Directs the Secretary of the Interior to provide assistance for projects for the conservation of rare felids and rare canids. Passed by House of Representatives 4/22/09
